Rowan Tee by Megan Nielsen Patterns
After having limited success with the fit of the Tilly and the Buttons Freya Top recently, I decided it was time to branch out and try a different stretch pattern. I had seen the Rowan Tee by Megan Nielsen Patterns a while back and decided it was worth a try.
This pattern was really easy to sew and the instructions were delightfully simple to follow. I really like how many different options and combinations are included in the same pattern, including a body suit, t-shirt, capped sleeves, v-neck, round neck and turtle neck. The pattern is sold as having endless possibilities and I really agree - there are so many ways to mix and match the pattern pieces.
I combined views A and C to make a turtle neck t-shirt. I found the suggested length for the t-shirt is much longer than I’m used to wearing. so I ended up cutting off quite a bit. The turtle neck is very similar to the Freya Top, but I found the shape of this pattern worked much better for me. I did also combine sizes out of fear of the shoulders not fitting right. The only thing that i didn’t quite perfect was the shoulder seam, which doesn’t quite sit flat.
I can’t fault this pattern and am already thinking about what I’ll make next. I’m thinking of hacking the pattern to make an open-back bodysuit like this.
