A Weekend Away on the Great Ocean Road

A Weekend Away on the Great Ocean Road

I have just spent a lovely weekend in Lorne, a coastal town in Victoria. Sometimes I find it hard to get my head around how the scenery can change so much - from built up Melbourne to rolling hills, greenery and crashing ocean waves in Lorne. It was a quick stay and I was only there for one night, however fortunately I got the chance to take some photos of the beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a quaint but lovely big house which felt a little bit like something out of Anne of Green Gables with antique style furniture, floral throws, cushions and ornaments all around the place. Sometimes that change of surroundings is exactly what you need to escape the daily grind of inner city life. On the way home, we stopped via Aireys Inlet to check out the Split Point lighthouse. I have to admit my main reason for wanting to stop was due to childhood memories of Round the Twist (tv show from the 90's). It is still a gorgeous old lighthouse with views of the fierce ocean and right around the bay to other seaside towns dotted along the coast. The Great Ocean Road is well worth a visit and hopefully I can stay for a bit longer next time.
